Alabama Homeschool Academy was started in September 2005 by Chris & Sonya Bowman. Mr. & Mrs. Bowman have served on a homeschool board or oversight committee since they began homeschooling in 2002.

We are a homeschool covering that reaches out to anyone who wants to homeschool their children in Alabama regardless if they have been homeschooling for years or if they are just getting started. 

We specialize in assisting parents who are homeschooling for the first time after their children have attended public or private school. The Bowman's have had first hand experience as their oldest child was in public school for 5 years.

We also dedicate ourselves to assisting parents who homeschool their children who have special needs.

Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year we will have a tuition increase.  The increase will be a fee of $300.00 per family.  This does not include the CO-OP or Field Trip cost and doesn't include the HSLDA  fee of $95.00.  The HSLDA fee has to be paid to be part of this Homeschool organization.  The tuition and HSLDA fee has to be paid by Sept. 1, 2012 for you child/children to be enrolled in this homeschool for the coming school year.  These fees can be paid anytime between May 1 and Sept 1.  Sorry for any inconvience that this may cause, but in the long run it will benefit the families.  Thanks and please contact Sonya Bowman if you have any questions concerning  this issue.  We are also working on the upcoming school year CO-OP and Field Trip schedule and it will be posted in the coming weeks.

  • July 31st-----8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Aug 24th-----8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.


You Must Call or EMAIL Mrs. Sonya Bowman for an appointment to take the placement test.
(Each child must take the placement test to be
enrolled in Alabama Homeschool Academy.
